Women podcasters and bloggers missing in new magazine
I just received the first issue of the new, and first, print magazine about the podcasting and blogging industry. I like it - it is really worth throwing on your coffee table to impress - and educate - your friends and family.
But when they open the magazine - please tell them a thing they won´t know from the cover or the articles:
There are women in blogging and podcasting. A lot of them, even. Clever ones, experts as well.
But in this magazine there are photos of 16 men and only one woman!
I will, when I read through all the articles, which I certainly will do, keep an eye on the male/female ratio in the written articles.
Cause this is just as much a womens media - and industry. Maybe techsavvy men have had an advantage and are more visible, but this is social media, it is about conversations, about passion, about connecting with your audience and readers, and when a lot of the men in the future have moved on to “the next thing” - women will still be there to exploit these communication tools - and keep the industry alive and profitable.

We were aware of the gender imbalance in the first issue too and hope in the future more women bloggers and podcasters will agree to interviews and pictures so we can better reflect the industry. Thanks for bringing this to everyone’s attention. I’m looking forward to hearing from more women.
