Mark Pentleton, who is a Scotsman, approached me at New Media Expo - in Norwegian. Thats how I knew that this guy has linguistic skills.

Just looking at his blog, one finds out, that Mark Pentleton knows his way around languages, also small languages like mine - Danish.

He has started the award-winning online language course Coffee Break Spanish, and now he is launching a new range of titles aimed at busy people who want to acquire the absolute basics of a language.

Including One Minute Danish - with me as the speaker.

The release happens on September 26th 2008 - the European Day of Languages, an international celebration of languages and language-learning.

One Minute Languages from the Radio Lingua Network introduce learners to a new language from scratch. The course is made up of ten lessons and covers topics including basic greetings, introducing yourself, and dealing with language problems. You’ll also learn numbers and other useful words and phrases which will help you communicate with native speakers in many situations.

How to get most out of a conference

I am attending quite a few conferences this year - both as a speaker, as an exhibitor, as a podcaster, a blogger and a common visitor.

One of the bigges events is the Web 2.0 EXPO in Berlin - and the programme, the exhibit hall is so overwhelming, so I have to have plan. First of all there are all the other Danish people I know who are also going to attend. Would love to spend time with them. Then there are all the vendors and speakers about my special interest, which is podcasting - both corporate and private.

So it is really important to have a plan. When I was in Las Vegas for the New Media Expo George Smyth interviewed me about it for the One Minute How To-podcast.

And people like Chris Brogan, whom I have met a conferences several times, are good people to get tricks and tips from.

Can Ben Hammersley “nail” it again?

Looking through the list of speakers at the coming Web 2.0 EXPO Europe in Berlin, there is one speaker, I must hear.

The British journalist, broadcaster, photographer and technologist Ben Hammersley, who is now based in London and Italy, is closing wednesday off with a keynote.

As a podcaster and a podcasting evangelist, I must always remember him as the one who coined the word “podcasting” when he was writing for ”The Guardian” back in february 2004.

….all the ingredients are there for a new boom in amateur radio. But what to call it? Audioblogging? Podcasting? GuerillaMedia?

Hammersley realle nailed it in that article.

At that time I had no idea what was to happen with online radio, and I have no idea that I a few years later should be making a living as a fulltime podcasting consultant in Denmark.

I have more reasons to sit in line for a presentation by Ben Hammersley.

As a foreign reporter, Ben has worked in Iran, Afghanistan, Burma, and Beirut. As a technologist he has written books for O’Reilly and others, built sites for the Guardian and the BBC, and consulted for the UK government. He is principal of Dangerous Precedent Ltd, and Associate Editor of the UK edition of Wired.

Ben Hammersley is a divine speaker. He nailed it again at Reboot 8 in Copenhagen, when he compared todays innovators with the rennaisance men, who designed the Dome in Florence, Italy, in the 15th Century.

Gary Vaynerchuk from Winelibrary TV did a great job at the keynote at New Media Expo - talked about being you, being pumped and spending time on the community.

That guy really is “pumped” - he loves what he does and he knows what he is doing. Thank you for a great keynote Gary.

Guest “Starring” on Leo Laportes TwiT Live

I was honoured to be a guest on TwiT Live during NME - New Media Expo - in Las Vegas. The show is streamed with Stickam, so there is no recording - other the on Dan from Dans Mathcast did for me with my Flip Video Camera (cool device).

Leo Laporte was so nice - that guy is breathing online media, and he remembered me from when I met him in Los Angeles at the first Podcasting EXPO in 2005.

The video is published and hosted with Podhandle, the podcasting system I co-developed last year.

Are you blogging about podcasting?

Quite timely this blog has decided to behave better. I abandoned it after the latest upgrades where the theme I have chosen kept “falling off”. Now after upgrade 2.6 the problem seems to be solved - and I am ready to take up blogging again in English.

And isn´t it just the best time - cause in a few days I am leaving for my fourth Podcasting EXPO in USA. This time it is called New Media Expo and has been moved to Las Vegas. My first visit in the city of sins. Yai!

This morning my newest Moo-cards arrived - my little business cards which I will hand out to anyone whom I think can contribute to make www.podcastingprofessionals.com Newsradar even better.

Marjolein “Cleverclogs” Hoekstra and I have been working on it quite a bit lately, and I hope my stay in Vegas will make it an even better tool for podcasting professionals like myself to keep up with the business.
